[ULUBUDA] Vesak Day

Happy Vesak Day!Today marks the anniversary of the Buddha's birth, parinirvana (death and final nirvana) and his enlightenment. This celebration has traditionally been observedin the full moon in May. However, this year May has two full moons and thus Vesakis celebrated internationally on the 2nd May and on the 31st May in Thailand and Singapore. The Vesak celebration has become a global phenomenon and crossesboundaries of nationality, tradition and culture.see wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesak_DayThis is a day to reflect on how Gotama Siddhartha rediscovered nirvana and layed outa path that would put an end to suffering, once and for all.' He who reveres those worthy of reverence,The Buddhas and their disciples Who have transcended all obstaclesand passed beyond the reach of sorryand lamentation-He who reveres such peaceful and fearless ones,his merit none can compute by any measure'- Dhammapada 196-196Traditionally pious Buddhists take the 8 precepts during this day.
